Stakeholders

Scrum uses the term stakeholders as a catch-all term for people outside the Scrum Team who have an interest in the product. This may include users, customers, management, governance and anyone else. As Scrum is a simple framework, it does not seek to detail the different types of stakeholders you may work with to keep things simple.

The Scrum Team is responsible for ensuring the right stakeholders attend the Sprint Review. The stakeholders who attend may change over time and depend on the current Product Goal or Sprint Goal.

The Scrum Team may work with stakeholders at any point during a Sprint. This could include the Product Owner working with them to understand what is valuable and creating new Product Backlog items. Developers may work with stakeholders to better understand Product Backlog items they are working on in the current Sprint. The Scrum Master may work with stakeholders to help them understand Scrum and to remove barriers between them and the Scrum Teams.
